ABE Initiative offers scholarships for youth to study master's courses in Japanese universities in English as well as internship opportunities during their stay in Japan.
Successfully chosen participants in this Programme will be entitled to receive during his/her study in Japan:
- Tuition at Japanese university master's degree programs (and research student)
- Allowance for living expenses, outfit, shipping, etc.
- A round-trip airfare
- Expenses for support programs during the study in Japan, including the costs of observation tours and internship
Who can apply?
The expected outcome of the program is a network of potential contributors to the development of African industries who will also lead Japanese private sector to engage further in economic activities in/towards Africa; Hence this Programme targets on the Sudanese youth who will take a role as pioneer for developing Sudan industries through the collaboration with Japanese private sector.

- Age between 22 and 39 as of April 1st 2018
- Bachelor degree or above
- Good understanding of the Programme objectives
- Adequate English skills both in written and oral communication

JICA Sudan Office will conduct both 1st and 2nd selection in October. Those who have submitted application on time and met basic requirements will be able to sit for examination. Interview will be conducted at JICA Sudan Office for those who have taken both examinations. Those traveling from outside of Khartoum State are given priority for early interview (close to the date of examination).
- 2nd week of October: Math Exam and English Exam (1st selection)
- 2nd-4th week of October: Interview (2nd selection)
- by mid-December: Notification of 1st and 2nd selection results
Important Tips for Sudanese Applicants
- Read instruction carefully in order to fill application form. Please refer to "University Information for the Applicants" in order to find university, program and professors. If you list the program/professors that are not in the list, you will be automatically disqualified.
- Your name on application form should match exactly with your Passport Name.
- JICA is requiring notary seal for the copy or diploma and transcript. If this is difficult, please bring your original copy at the time of interview, so JICA Sudan Office can confirm their authenticity.
- Make sure your telephone number and your email address are valid and reachable. Please check your email regularly, so that you would not miss important announcement from us.
