Role purpose :
To support the delivery of country, regional and corporate financial and quality targets for examination delivery in Sudan. This is achieved through effective management of exam products and development. This post is primarily concerned with exams product management in terms of standard of delivery, processes and risk.   Delivering over 14,300 examinations in 2016-17 through our  centre in Sudan:, the Sudan Examinations Department is one of the fastest growing  Businesses in the British Council sub-Saharan Africa region(SSA). Our main areas of activity involve the delivery of schools examinations (e.g. IGCSEs and ‘O’ levels); English language profeciency examinations (IELTS); university examination; and professional examinations (e.g. MRCP,MRCS,ACCA) and Aptis. The examinations department has seen rapid growth over the past 5 years expanding the number of products offered. Our main goals are to identify  new business opportunities; to manage and support sustainable growth; to improve customer service and take advantage of technologies to improve our service delivery. 

  Main opportunities/challenges for this role: (including exams administration,finance and people management )     
Business Development:
 ·         The post holder will work closely with the CEM on researching new partner schools ,building new relationships and supporting the schools’ development to meet British Council and Cambridge’s standards.
 ·         The post holder will be responsible for developing  and implementing the British Council’s PSGN offer to schools.
 ·         The postholder will be responsible for researching and  building B2B relationships for IELTS.         
Exams Administration Quality: The Exams  Business Development  Manager will conduct yearly inspections on  associate schools to ensure standards are maintained . 
 ·         The Exams  Business Development  Manager will ensure that all co-ordinator’s are consistently compliant  in their school examinations delivery. This involves performing regular inspections to exams Work closely with Regional Exams Manager, Quality and Compliance to ensure that all Quality and Compliance Assessment (QCA) and other exam board standards are met or exceeded.                     
 Financial Control & Compliance: 
 ·         The post holder will ensure that board fees are paid to Cambridge immediately , schools are invoiced for their entries and follow up with schools on payments.
 ·         Ensure the accuracy of all exams financial data and reporting. All financial data to be recorded against the correct WBS and GL Account and corrections made where this is not the case.  
 The postholder will assist with the checking of income reconciliations and preparing cashflow projections for all exams activities. The postholder will be responsible with the CEM in undertaking financial tasks such as releasing POs and sales orders into billing documents.   
    Human Resources : 
·         Currently there are 9 staff members working in the Examinations Department in the British Council in Sudan. The Exams  Business Development  Manager will line manage the school exams  team which consists of two  members of staff. 
·         Management of venue staff recruitment, training and monitoring processes for all exams. Venue staff are recruited, contracted, trained and monitored in accordance with British Council and exams body regulations and procedures.          
Other important features or requirements of the job Some unsocial hours, weekend work and travel outside Khartoum to deliver exams is required.
