Role purpose :
To assist in meeting British Council Regional and Country Objectives in Sudan through the effective delivery of UK examinations across the country, within budgets set and meeting income and candidate number targets.   Delivering over 14,300 examinations in 2016-17 through our  centre in Sudan:, the Sudan Examinations Department is one of the fastest growing  Businesses in the British Council sub-Saharan Africa region(SSA). Our main areas of activity involve the delivery of schools examinations (e.g. IGCSEs and ‘O’ levels); English language profeciency examinations (IELTS); university examination; and professional examinations (e.g. MRCP,MRCS,ACCA) and Aptis. The examinations department has seen rapid growth over the past 5 years expanding the number of products offered. Our main goals are to identify  new business opportunities; to manage and support sustainable growth; to improve customer service and take advantage of technologies to improve our service delivery. British Council Sudan is based in its Khartoum offices and offers a full range British Council programmes including a Teaching Centre, Examinations, project management on behalf of other donors, and its own grant funded projects. From July 2011 it covers all of Northern Sudan with a separate Directorate formed for South Sudan. This post covers Northern Sudan only. British Council has operated in Sudan since 1947 and its aim is to build cultural and educational relations between the Sudan and the UK. 

  Main opportunities/challenges for this role: (including exams administration,finance and people management )     
This post will coordinate the Examinations work at the British Council office in Khartoum reporting to the Country Exams Manager. It is accountable for the delivery of a high quality examination experience for every customer wishing to gain qualifications through the British Council. The post supervises a team of invigilators.  
Key duties are:   
§  Examination Registration & Administration – Manage candidate registration for examinations products offered by the British Council, meeting British Council and Examination Board regulations and standards. 
 §  Customer Service – Deliver high levels of service to all British Council customers directly and through supervision of invigilation staff. §  Examination Events Management – Manage and deliver all examination sittings to British Council and Examination Board regulations and standards.  
 §  Marketing , Monitoring & Evaluation – Support delivery of the Marketing Action Plan, manage scorecard data collection & entry §  Financial Management & Control – British Council Essential Finance procedures and policies are followed. 
 §  Delivery of our Equal Opportunities & Diversity policy in relation to our examinations services 
Other important features or requirements of the job: As some of the examinations are held over weekends, Friday and Saturday are considered working days and the job holder will agree with the line manager on his/her weekend.
