Position summery:
To receive, evaluate, sort, transfer, crush, pulverise all samples to perform quantitative and qualitative tests in order make them available for the next steps (weighing & digestions/extractions) within the laboratory process.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Sample Preparation
• Check samples against information on sample submittal form
• Perform listed routine preparation tasks independently
• Arrange samples on drying racks and dry samples in oven
• Crush /split samples and keep rejects in order for appropriate storage
• Pulverize samples using two pulverizing machines simultaneously
• Ensure proper handling of samples and related consumables and equipment at all times
2. Record Keeping
• keep a record of all client samples rejects and retrieve them when required
• Record receiving weigh and transfer pulp to laboratory sample envelopes
3. Quality Control Testing & HSE
• Ensure strict safety procedures, safety checks and QC protocols of the sample preparation department and the laboratory as a whole is followed
• Ensure daily housekeeping and the removal of waste to the waste disposal bins is done
4. Other Duties
• Be flexible in assisting other lab departments as and when required
• All other duties as directed by the Management.
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
Qualifications:
- High school Diploma
- Assayers Certification (Desirable)
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a sample preparation technician
- 1 year experience working in a commercial laboratory
