Position summery:
Managing and coordinating with existing Procurement Agents. Creating new agents to enhance the procurement base and aim for strong pan Sudan procurement base for Agricultural Commodities. Creating strong network of local traders, Agents and other Stake holders to have excellent understanding of prevailing environment thus helping to procure desired volumes of cargo in time and at optimum price levels. Develop strong market sense to go long/short as per the anticipated market direction.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Tying up with Farmers and Local Aggregators for procurement. Look for all possible options to procure the given volumes at lower prices to have competitive edge.
- Explore the possibilities of long term contracts, contract farming, financing, barter system etc. to entrench in the system and generate value.
- Ensure quality of the procured products and their timely delivery.
- The Agents to be provided clear guidelines of the quality of the cargo to be procured. Having checks and balances in order to ensure that the cargo quality purchased is as per the specifications
- Coordinating with finance for the payment by providing the financial requirements well in advance and fulfilling the documentary requirement with strong follow up. In case of explainable delays, escalating it timely to the Management.
- Generate real time market intelligence. Keeping an eye on the competition (i.e. their purchase, exports, modus operandi, existing Manufacturing and new asset purchase plans). Updating daily prices and price trend.
- In case of cleaning and processing of the cargo required, ensure that processing done at reputable Processor’s premises with our checks and balances. Ensure that the cargo cleaned and processed is as per our specifications and packing & stitching done properly
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in any relevant field.
- Self- Driven and solution Oriented
- Strong Commercial Acumen and good negotiation skills
- Highly proactive and with constant look out for new opportunities
- Good at networking and willing to travel extensively
- Strong team player with good communication skills
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Agricultural commodities mainly Sesame with at least three year experience in managing procurement.
- Ability to understand the trade flows and see where value lies for us
- Sound commercial knowledge and ability to understand the commercial and financial implications of any transaction
- Capacity to withstand pressures of long protracted negotiations
- Knowing Sudan Geography and understanding the local culture and practices
