Position summery:
To manage and supervise field exploration camps and all its activities including but not limited to direct geological explorations in the field and providing relevant data to define opportunities and strategically planning exploration programs by staying in line with company policies and procedures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Indicate to exploration crews, in conjunction with his supervisor and the exploration program, where exploration activities must take place.
- Participate, with his supervisor & other experts, in the designing of the exploration programs.
- Supervise the sampling process in totality, including physical sampling, trenching & drilling.
- Report and make recommendations to superiors & managers by means of meetings, verbal reports and in writing in accordance with immediate supervisor’s/manager’s requests.
- Lead and direct geological exploration activities in the field. (Stream & soil sampling, geological mapping, trenching and drilling).
- Provide Geo-science leadership to the exploration crews, including review, development and maintenance of best technical practices.
- Provide analysis and interpretation of the geology and prospectus of the Company’s tenements to define exploration opportunities.
- Mentor and guide the Company’s field Geo scientists, including the development of technical training programs.
- Contribute to exploration program reviews and strategic exploration planning.
- Stay abreast of national perspectives on minerals exploration and development opportunities.
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
- A University degree in Geology.
- Formal qualification in exploration.
- Training courses.
- Knowledge / experience of the local exploration industry (intensive)
- Knowledge / experience of national geology
- Experience with computer and MS Office Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and dedicated geological software
- 10 years experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties at all levels
- Ability to deal and negotiate effectively with external parties at all levels
- Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with local people, local government and colleagues
- Numerate, analytical, attention to detail
- Intensive knowledge of the geology & exploration market
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Able to multitask and work on a variety of activities simultaneously
- A strong-sense of teamwork and ability to both manage and execute programs
- Fluency in English language
